Welcome to the seventh issue of Ghudsavar Literary Magazine!

It is a great pleasure to know that despite being devoted solely to poetry, the reach of this magazine is increasing, in both Hindi-speaking and English-speaking circles. The number of submissions is increasing every month, so much so that I am even late at times in responding to submissions. However, the reason of this delay, that sometimes submissions are overwhelming in numbers, makes me happy.

This issue has a Hindi poem written by a high school student—the poem was selected on its merit, not because it was written by a teenager. It is a pleasure to publish it, to think that young and old, while dealing with the complexities of modern society, are continuing to engage with poetry. (As an aside, I have always preferred em dashes over spaced en dashes, so do not think of AI because of my usage of the em dash in the previous sentences.) Sometimes I also get emails complimenting or thanking me for running this magazine. Recently, I received an email of appreciation from a famous artist who writes songs for Hindi-Punjabi films. I was surprised and pleased to know that the magazine is getting read occasionally by established artists! Submissions in English, too, come from every corner of the world, and it is a particular pleasure to hear those voices that are sometimes not heard just because they come from a direction one is not used to tend the ear to.

I hope that in this issue, too, you will find a lot of inspiration, beauty and nourishment for the soul. You must be aware that recently the Ghudsavar Prize 2025 was announced - you can read Prakhar Singh's poem 'Chirag', which won this award, and other nominated poems here. The Ghudsavar Prize is for a Hindi poem published in any online magazine in a given year, and the winner is awarded US$100 US by Ghudsavar. Although Ghudsavar does not have its own award for poetry in English, Ghudsavar nominates some of the poems published in its issues for the Best of the Net anthology - you can read the poems that Ghudsavar is nominating for the Best of the Net 2026 anthology here.

Have a wonderful reading experience!
